Installing Oil Pressure and Oil Tempurature gauges on any modifed turbo engine is always good practice to ensure reliability, and provides the capacity to see ‘trends’ in oil quality and engine operation in real time. Some Landcruiser models were fitted from factory with oil pressure gauges, however these have proven to be at times unreliable. Some Landcruiser models were not fitted with an oil pressure gauge at all - and none were fitted from factory with oil tempurature sensors.

Simpson Off-Road Engineering now offers a quality and convenient remote sensor dual-port kit that is available for 1HZ-T engines. This allows sensors to be placed up away from direct heat of the engine block (heat is often the reason for early electrical sensor failure). Many aftermarket gauges available now (eg, JRP, Redarc) have Oil Temp and Oil Pressure inputs, but previous installs have seen ‘daisy-chaining’ multiple ports hanging from the side of the engine block, leading to premature failure. Our kit provides up to 2 x remote 1/8 NPT ports (depending on kit purchased) to suit most currently available gauge sensors, and ties into an existing Simpson Off-Road Engineering PTFE braided oil line forming a loop. The stainless steel braided PTFE supply line uses billet fittings like our other oil and water lines.
